GETTING STARTED
WHETHER YOU’RE NEW TO STRUCTURED TRAINING OR LOOKING TO IMPROVE YOUR MOVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE, WE ALWAYS START WITH STEP ONE: GETTING TO KNOW YOU AND YOUR GOALS.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR MOVEMENT MECHANICS
-
1. Free Intro Consultation
All new clients begin with a complimentary 30-minute consultation, offered either in person here in Boulder, or virtually via Zoom. It’s a chance to talk through your training background, lifestyle, and what you’re hoping to get from working together. You’ll also learn more about our approach and what to expect moving forward.
This is about building clarity and confidence from the start—so you feel supported and understood right away.
-
2. Functional Range Assessment (FRA®)
After the consultation, we start every client with a Functional Range Assessment (FRA®). This is a thorough, joint-by-joint evaluation that helps us understand how your body is moving today, so we can design a program that aligns with your goals and supports long-term progress.
The FRA is a great fit for people of all levels—from those just starting out to seasoned athletes. It provides a clearer picture of:
Joint mobility and range of motion
Active control through different positions
Where strength and mobility work will have the most impact
This process allows us to match your training plan to your current physical capacity and gradually expand your capabilities with focused, intentional work.
What Is the FRA®?
The Functional Range Assessment, developed by Dr. Andreo Spina and used as part of the Functional Range Systems®, is designed to evaluate joint function and mobility in a structured, measurable way.
The assessment takes a closer look at:
How each joint moves individually
The difference between passive and active range of motion
Your ability to control motion through different ranges
The general quality of your joint health and tissue readiness
This kind of assessment is especially useful for creating highly customized mobility and strength programs that evolve as you progress. It also gives us a helpful reference point to track improvements over time.
